Meet the founder, learn where we come from, and understand why this organization exists.
Marcía Williams founded Broadcast Your Love because she knew firsthand that the difference between a young person who gets the opportunity and one who doesn’t often comes down to a single skill — and that skill is almost never taught.
Through her career in communications and public relations, she saw firsthand the gap between what workplaces expect and how prepared young adults are — especially when it comes to communication.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin’s Moody College of Communication, Marcía built her career helping organizations find their voice and connect meaningfully with their communities.
BYL is her answer to that gap.
1965 — 2010 · Journalist · Mentor · Inspiration
In memory of the sister who believed — and the shared vision that became Broadcast Your Love.
Marcía and Thea Williams shared more than a family bond — they shared a belief that communication changes everything. Both sisters studied communications at the University of Texas at Austin’s Moody College of Communication, a foundation that would shape everything that followed.
Thea went on to earn her graduate degree from Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, becoming a Central Texas broadcast journalist and Executive Producer at KVUE — and a tireless mentor to the young people whose stories she told.
Marcía built her career in public relations, helping organizations find their voice and connect meaningfully with their communities. Together they always knew something was missing for young people. They just never got the chance to build it together.
When Thea passed away in 2010 after a courageous battle with breast cancer, Marcía founded Broadcast Your Love to honor her sister’s legacy — and to finally build what they had always dreamed of together.
Every course and every young adult who finds their voice is a reflection of that dream.
