Our Story
Meet the founder, learn where we come from, and understand why this organization exists.
Marcía Williams
Founder and Director — Broadcast Your Love
Through her career in communications and public relations, she saw firsthand the gap between what workplaces expect and how prepared young adults are — especially when it comes to communication.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin’s Moody College of Communication, Marcía built her career helping organizations find their voice and connect meaningfully with their communities.
BYL is her answer to that gap.
Thea Williams-Douglas
1965 — 2010 · Journalist · Mentor · Inspiration
Thea and Marcía both studied communications at the University of Texas at Austin’s Moody College of Communication — a shared foundation that shaped everything that followed.
Thea earned her graduate degree from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, becoming a Central Texas broadcast journalist and Executive Producer at Austin’s KVUE, dedicating her life to mentoring young people.
Marcia built her career in public relations, helping organizations find their voice and connect meaningfully with their communities. Both sisters believed deeply that strong communication skills are foundational to any successful career.
When Thea passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer, Marcia founded BYL not only to honor her sister’s legacy, but to finally build something they had both always wanted to exist.
Our Mission
Broadcast Your Love empowers young adults with the communication and essential skills they need to succeed — on whatever path they choose.
Our Vision
A community where every young person, regardless of background or destination, has the tools to show up with confidence, connect with purpose, and build a life that is fully their own.
